Rev Marcus Pipe
Priest-in-Charge of Marchwiel, Bangor-on-Dee and Erbistock
Rev Marcus is warm, kind, and genuinely down to earth. He has an approachable and amiable nature that helps people feel at ease, whether meeting him for the first time or working alongside him in church life.
He brings energy and initiative to his churches, always looking for ways to grow and strengthen the community. He is dedicated to creating opportunities for people of all generations to come together in worship.
Marcus is also actively involved beyond the church, building strong links with local schools.
Marchwiel's Licensed Lay Minister
Licensed Lay Ministers (LLMs), also known as Readers, play a vital role in the life of our Mission Area. They are lay people who have been trained and authorised by the Church to lead, teach, and support the worshipping community.
They regularly lead services, preach, and assist with pastoral care, working alongside clergy to support the spiritual life of our churches. Many also take on specific responsibilities within their local church or across the wider Mission Area.
LLMs bring a wealth of experience, insight, and commitment, offering a different but complementary perspective to ordained ministry.

Michael Vellacott
Michael is a Licensed Lay Minister a Marchwiel Church. He has given many faithful years of service to the church, and has recently received royal Maundy Money honours at St Asaph Cathedral in 2026 in recognition for his outstanding contribution to the life and ministry of the church, and the Mission Area. He leads Morning Worship on a monthly basis.
SS Deiniol & Marcella Church Team
SS Deiniol & Marcells is supported by a wonderful team of people who give their time, energy, and care to keep everything running day to day. This includes churchwardens, secretaries, treasurers, organists:

Church Warden

...

Treasurer

Trustee
There are many others not mentioned here who quietly make a huge difference.
They help organise services, support worship, look after our buildings, and keep things running behind the scenes, often taking on more than one role, they are at the heart of church life in each community.
Their dedication helps create welcoming, friendly churches where people feel at home.
We are hugely thankful for all that they do and the part they play in the life of Marchwiel Church and our Mission Area.

Pebble Pool & Prayer Table
Introducing our pebble pool and prayer table:
The table is located at the front of the church and has on it a small dish of stones alongside a dish of water. This is a "pebble pool". Each pebble placed in the pool represents a prayer, either for yourself, for someone else or in memory of someone dear to you.
Start by choosing a pebble and before you place it in the water, you may wish to take it in your hand and say in prayer in your heart, in your thoughts or quietly out aloud, or you may simply want to speak a name or need that you wish to remember. When you feel ready, place the pebble in the pool.
Each week the pool is emptied and the needs and thoughts symbolised by the stones are held in prayer by the Prayer Group who meet every Wednesday at 1,30 pm. Anyone is welcome to come to these meetings. There is also a book on the table for any other requests for prayer, which are also prayed for each week. In many ways it is like leaving a lighted candle but without the risk of burning the church down!
Please come and join us at Marchwiel church, everyone is welcome.
