Life Events

At different moments in life, we mark important milestones—times of joy, commitment, thanksgiving, and remembrance.

The church is here to walk alongside you through these moments, whether you are celebrating a new beginning, making lifelong promises, or saying goodbye to a loved one.

We offer a range of services including baptisms, weddings, funerals, and other special services such as thanksgiving and the renewal of vows. Each one is approached with care, sensitivity, and a desire to support you and your family.

Whatever your situation, you are always welcome to get in touch—we are here to help and guide you.

Child Baptisms

Baptism (sometimes called a christening) is a special and joyful      occasion, marking the beginning of a journey of faith. It is a time to give thanks for the gift of life and to ask for God’s blessing and   guidance for the future.

Baptisms often take place during a church service and are a wonderful opportunity for family and friends to gather and celebrate together. Parents and godparents make promises to support the child as they grow, and the church community welcomes them into its life.

Whether you are thinking about baptism for your child, or exploring it for yourself, we are here to guide and support you every step of the way.

If you would like to find out more or arrange a baptism, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Funerals

We are here to support you at one of life’s most difficult times. A church funeral offers a space to give thanks for a life, to remember, and to say goodbye with dignity and care.

Our clergy will guide you through the arrangements, helping to create a service that reflects your loved one and brings comfort to family and friends. Whether the service takes place in church, at a crematorium, or at the graveside, we will support you every step of the way.

You do not have to be a regular churchgoer to arrange a funeral with us—please feel free to get in touch.

Weddings

Getting married in church is a special and meaningful way to begin your life together. It is a joyful service, rooted in love, commitment, and the presence of God.

Our churches offer beautiful and historic settings for your wedding day, along with a supportive and welcoming community. Whether you are at the early stages of planning or ready to set a date, we are here to guide you through the process and help you prepare for your marriage.

A church wedding includes traditional elements such as vows, prayers, readings, and music, but there is also scope to make the service personal and reflective of you as a couple.

If you are considering getting married in one of our churches, we would be delighted to hear from you and talk through the next steps

Blessings / Renewal of Vows

Renewing your marriage vows is a special way to give thanks for your life together and to celebrate a significant anniversary or milestone.

Whether you are marking many years of marriage or simply wish to reaffirm your commitment, we can offer a meaningful and personal service. This may be a small, quiet occasion or something shared with family and friends.

We would be delighted to help you plan a service that reflects your journey together.

Adult Baptisms

Baptism is not just for children—it is open to people of all ages. Adult baptism is a meaningful step for those who are exploring faith or who have come to a point where they wish to make that commitment for themselves.

We will support and guide you through the process, giving you time to ask questions and prepare for the service. It is a joyful and welcoming occasion, marking the beginning of a new chapter in faith.

If you would like to find out more, please get in touch—we would be very happy to talk with you.

Confirmation Preparation

Confirmation is an important step in the Christian journey, where you make a personal commitment to your faith and affirm the promises made at baptism.

It is a chance to explore faith more deeply, ask questions, and grow in understanding, supported by others in the church. Confirmation services are led by the Bishop and are a joyful and significant occasion.

If you are interested in confirmation—whether you are a young person or an adult—we would love to hear from you.
